Roughness parameters to be displayed in drawing are set in the Height Parameter, Step Parameter and Relative length tabs of the Roughness command's parameters window. In the Type drop-down list located at the top of each tab, you should select a parameter to be used for characterizing the corresponding property of the surface and a set of values to be used for expressing such parameter:
•Height Parameter
Height of surface profile deviations may be characterized by one of the following parameters:
oArithmetic average of profile height deviations - Ra
oAverage height of profile deviations by five highest peaks and five deepest valleys - Rz
oMaximum peak to valley height of the profile - Rmax
•Step Parameter
Step of surface profile deviations may be characterized by one of the following parameters:
oMean spacing of local peaks of the profile - S
oMean spacing of profile irregularities - Sm
Each of the parameters listed above can be expressed via one of the following sets of values:
•Nominal value only:
oRa
oRz
oRmax
oS
oSm
otp
•Maximum and minimum values:
oRa, max, min
oRz, max, min
oRmax, max, min
oS, max, min
oSm, max, min
otp, max, min
Display format of maximum and minimum values depends on the option selected in the Strings Display drop-down list in the Style tab.
•Minimum value only:
oRa, min
oRz, min
oRmax, min
oS, min
oSm, min
otp, min
•Nominal value with deviations:
oRa, nom
oRz, nom
oRmax, nom
oS, nom
oSm, nom
otp, nom
Display format of deviations depends on the option selected in the Tolerance Display drop-down list in the Style tab.
Depending on the option selected in the Type drop-down list, a corresponding parameter's tab may contains different set of input boxes.
Additionally, for each parameter, you can specify a Basic Length. In drawing basic length value precedes the corresponding parameter's value separated by slash.
For relative length, you can also specify a profile section level p.
Moreover, each Type drop-down list the no option. Selecting this option means, that the corresponding parameter should not be specified, so the input boxes won't be displayed.
Values of aforementioned parameters are text string. When inputting them, you can use variables (type a variable name in curvy braces) and contextual menu commands.
Lists containing standard sets of values are available for most input boxes. Such lists can be customized.
