Pipeline Profile Orientation

It is possible to specify rotation of profile while sweeping using Rotate Profile checkbox in the Profile Orientation section of the Pipeline, Wire/Cable, Air Pipe command's parameters window. The checkbox is available only for rectangular profile.

The profile orientation is the full angle of rotation according to the axis directed along the tangent to the trajectory. It is specified at the pipe ends with two parameters:

•Starting Angle
Angle between Y axes of base LCS and source LCS at the start of the pipeline.

•Ending Angle
Angle between Y axes of base LCS and source LCS at the end of the pipeline

Source LCS - X axis is directed along the tangent to the trajectory, Y axis is defined by the principal normal to the trajectory.

Base LCS – LCS (connector or connection point) which is located on the pipe bound (starting or ending). The X axis is directed along the tangent to the trajectory, the origin merges with the bound of the pipe (starting or ending).

Angles are specified in the parameters window or using manipulator in 3D scene. When moving a manipulator, the current value of the corresponding parameter is indicated in the filter toolbar or system toolbar; the value may also be typed in there via keyboard.
