For better understanding of 2D assemblies creation techniques, you can explore the example supplied with T-FLEX CAD in the following library: Examples/2D Assemblies/Drill Jig 2D.
It's an assembly drawing of a drill jig, which is supposed to be used for drilling holes in a workpiece. Fragments in the assembly are positioned in relation to each other and to auxiliary constructs. Some fragments are unique parts, others - standard.
Parameters of the drill jig are defined by dimensions of the workpiece. These dimensions are represented by external variables of the assembly, whose values are inherited by external variables of fragments for calculating fragments' geometry.
Dimensions of the workpiece affect the nomenclature of included fragments. Additionally, type of drill bushings may be switched using the external variable.
Moreover, some key dimensions of the drill jig and its fragments not related to the workpiece are also defined by external variables of the assembly.
This section describes some 2D assembly creation techniques applied, when creating the example.
The Examples library also contains the 3D version of the same drill jig: Example/3D Assemblies/Drill Jig.
