<BG>

Tools > Report/Bill of materials > Sections…

The command is used to create/edit a list of BoM sections.

The resulting sections are available for selection as values of the Section column in product compositions based on the General BOM and Variant BOM types. Sections can be used for grouping and sorting records in representations of product composition. When SavePStoDOCs20x20 saving product composition to T-FLEX DOCs, section defines type of resulting elements of the DOCs Product Structure.

The link between the Section column and BOM sections is built in internal coding of the system and is not reflected in column's properties. Creating similar column manually is impossible. Therefore, if you want to use such column in custom types of product composition, you should create your composition type from a standard one keeping the initial Section column.

By default, the hierarchy of sections is stored in the database file BOM Groups.xml. You can set/change the name and path of the database by section in the Set System Options > Bill of Materials command.

Upon calling the command, the Sections dialog box appears.

EditBOM1

The top line displays the installed name and path of the database file by section.

Each element of the section tree is assigned a numerical identifier (ID). It is used for identifying elements by the system in the same way as IDs of drawing and 3D model elements. The only difference is, that IDs of drawing and model elements are assigned automatically and contain various symbols, while IDs of BoM sections are assigned manually by the user, upon adding a new section, and contain only numbers.

The presence of two elements with the same ID value is not allowed.

Tree elements with a "+" icon to the left of their name contain nested elements. To expand the sublevels of the element, point the mouse cursor at the "+" icon and click the left mouse button.

To change the composition of the partition tree, the graphical Add and Delete buttons are used. To enter a new section, select the tree element to which you want to add the section and click Add. After that, you need to enter the name of the section and the value of the identifier (the system suggests a possible default value of the identifier). To delete a section, select the appropriate item and click Delete.

If necessary, you can save the database of specification sections to a file with a different name. To do this, use the Save As button.
