This section describes editing of reports/BOMs created by template. Editing of BOMs created by prototype is described in the Edit Legacy BOM section.
BOMs and other reports on product composition are based on usual tables, and, therefore can be edited using standard T-FLEX CAD table editing tools. However, the capabilities of such tools are limited, when working with report tables, and changes may be lost upon updating a table. Whether the changes are kept or discarded, depends on the kind of changes and parameters specified when creating the report:
•Editing cells content
Content of report table cells can be edited in the same way, as content of usual table cells. However, the changes will be discarded upon updating the table, if the Keep manually changed texts checkbox is disabled in report generator parameters. If the checkbox is enabled, manually edited cells keep inputted values, but lose links with corresponding data of product composition.
Only textual content of cells can be kept as described above. Indexes, fractions, radicals, roughness and GD&T symbols, 2D fragments and pictures inserted into report table cells are always deleted upon updating the table, regardless of the status of the Keep manually changed texts checkbox.
•Editing table header content
Content of header cells in report tables based on templates, that suppose location On existing page, can be edited in the same way, as content of other cells (see above).
Content of header cells in report tables based on templates, that suppose location On new page or In new document, cannot be edited using standard table editing tools. This content is inherited form the report template, so it can be edited only using the Edit Report Template command, if the Edited Template checkbox was enabled in report generator parameters on report creation. If the checkbox was disabled, changed made using this command cannot be saved.
•Editing set of columns
If you try to add or delete columns of report table in the same way, as in usual tables, changes will be discarded upon updating the report.
When using template with constant set of columns, table inherits columns from template, so they can be added or deleted only using the Edit Report Template command, if the Edited Template checkbox was enabled in report generator parameters on report creation. If the checkbox was disabled, changed made using this command cannot be saved.
When using template with variable set of columns, the set of report table columns can be edited not only as described above, but also using the Columns tab of the report parameters dialog, if the Initialize with Visible Columns checkbox was enabled in report generator parameters on report creation.
•Editing width of columns
With of columns of a report table can be changes in the same way as in usual table. Upon confirming changes, the system asks whether you want to Save column width in local report template. Upon positive answer the new width will be saved both in the current table itself and in its template; upon negative answer - in the current table only.
•Editing set of rows
If you try to add or delete rows of report table in the same way, as in usual tables, changes will be discarded upon updating the report.
In order to add or delete a row containing data from a product composition record, either add/delete the record itself in the product composition, or include/exclude the record from the representation corresponding to the selected report.
In order to add or delete other rows (names of BOM groups, empty rows), use the Edit Report Template command, if the Edited Template checkbox was enabled in report generator parameters on report creation. If the checkbox was disabled, changed made using this command cannot be saved.
For Normal drawing pages the transparent texts editing is enabled by default (Document Parameters > Page > View > Text > "Transparent" text editing). Therefore, if a report table is placed on such page, pressing within table's bounding rectangle instantly launches the table content editing, same as for usual pages. If location On new page or In new document is selected, when creating a report, then the table is placed on an automatically created new page of the Bill of Material type. For this type of pages, transparent text editing is disabled by default, so pressing within table's bounding rectangle launches the text editing command. In such case, table content editing may be launched using the corresponding automenu option.
