This section describes editing of BOMs created by prototype. Editing of reports/BOMs created by template is described in the Edit Report/BOM section.

Calling the command:

Ribbon

BOMEdit

-

Keyboard

Textual Menu

<BE>

Tools > Report/Bill of materials > Edit

This command is intended for editing the BOM table and allows the user to perform the following actions:

add/remove BOM lines;

change the contents of the BOM table cells;

set BOM text formatting parameters;

change BOM table parameters;

change BOM properties.

When creating a new BOM, the editing mode is set automatically. To start editing an existing BOM, just move the cursor to the BOM field and click Левый клик Текст (if the "Transparent" text editing is enabled for the BOM page in the View tab of the Document Parameters dialog). This command can also be called from the context menu. To do this, move the cursor to the text of the BOM and press Правый клик Текст, and then select the TableEdit21x20 Edit Contents item from the menu that appears.

After calling the command, if the BOM does not contain any records, the system offers to add records to the BOM table. To add, select the BOM section, specify the number of records to be added to it, and confirm the action by pressing the OK button. To stop adding entries, click the Cancel button.

In the BOM editing mode, additional commands in the ribbon and automenu become available, and the cursor is placed in the initial position of the first line of the BOM table. To edit the existing contents of the table, the automenu options are used, which are similar to the options of the Text command for paragraph text or multiline text (only the option of resizing the rectangle is not available). Moving through the fields of the BOM table is performed using the mouse cursor (point to the required field and press Левый клик Текст) or the Up, Down, Right, Left, Tab keys.

You can enter/change the contents of a table field only if the Automatic Field option is disabled.

The ribbon contains commands for editing the BOM table:

OldSpecParameters

BOM Properties

Invokes the BOM Properties dialog.

OldSpecEditTemplate

Edit Template

Allows you to edit the layout of the table used in the BOM. By default, the table layout is inherited from the BOM prototype file selected for BOM creation. When this command is called, the Text tab of the ribbon and the automenu icons described in the Text command will appear.

OldSpecSections

<BG>

Sections

Allows you to make changes to the database file containing information about the sections of the BOM (by default, this is the file BOM Groups.xml). You can set/change the name and path of the database by sections in the system options dialog (Options > Bill of Materials > Folders > BOM Sections).

OldSpecUpdate

Update

Ensures that the BOM is updated at the user's request. When updating, the BOM is redrawn in accordance with the changes made (changes in the contents of the table, parameters, formatting rules).

OldSpecDelete

<BX>

Delete

Allows you to delete a BOM. If there are several BOMs, a window appears for selecting the BOM to be deleted from the list.

OldSpecAutoUpdate

Automatic Update

Enables/disables the automatic BOM update mode. If the mode is enabled, the command's icon is highlighted. In this mode the BOM is updated automatically after making changes to the table (adding/deleting rows, changing formatting rules, changing BOM properties). I.e. when you exit edit mode, all changes made will be applied. However, when changing the composition of the assembly (adding/deleting fragments), to make changes to the BOM, it is necessary to execute the command Tools > Report/Bill of Materials > Update All.

If the Automatic Field command is pressed, this means that the current field

OldSpecAutoFiled

Automatic Field

Enables/disables the mode of automatic BOM table cell filling for the current cell. If the mode is enabled for the current cell, the command's icon is highlighted. In this mode the cell of the BOM table is automatically filled with the product composition data and manual content input is not possible. If you disable this mode, the cell content may be inputted manually, but then the cell will lose link with product composition data.

OldSpecFormatByDefault

Default Format

Upon calling the command, the formatting parameters of the current cell take default values specified in the BOM prototype.

OldSpecAddRecordBefore

Add Record Before

OldSpecAddRecordAfter

Add Record After

Add record above or below the current one. Be aware that the added records may change their position in the BOM section according to the sort result after the Update command is performed.

OldSpecAddRecordToSection

Add Record into Group

Displays a dialog box for selecting a section and specifying the number of entries to be added to it. If you select a list item with the name No Section, the entries you add will not be associated with any section of the BOM. As a result of confirmation, additional empty lines will appear in the section (when placing callouts, such entries are taken into account). If the specified section does not exist in the BOM, then after confirmation the title of the selected section will appear in the BOM. This feature can also be used when searching for a section in the case of multi-page BOMs.

OldSpecDeleteRecord

Delete Record

Allows to delete the current record. If the record being deleted is the only one in the section, then the section title will also be removed. Deleted records are still stored in the specification, although they do not appear in it. The options that allow you to view and restore deleted (hidden) records are described below.

If the BOM table fills several pages, then it is possible that, when editing the content, the number of rows decreases and blank pages appear. In this case, a window for selecting one of the actions appears on the screen. If you select Delete pages and set the mode to Don't ask this question again in this session, then the removal of extra pages will be performed automatically.

OldSpecMoveUp

Move Up

OldSpecMoveDown

Move Down

Change the position of the current record one position up/down within the current section. The commands are available for records that belong to sections without specified sort conditions.

OldSpecConnectToPrev

Link to Previous

Enables/disables the mode, in which the contents of the current record will not be taken into account when sorting the table, and its position will be determined by the position of the previous record. I.e., when moving records, the current record will always follow the previous one. If the mode is enabled for the current cell, the command's icon is highlighted.

OldSpecSkipPosition

Skip Position

Enables/disables the mode, in which the current record is not used when placing callouts. If the mode is enabled for the current cell, the command's icon is highlighted.

OldSpecBlockPosition

Lock Position

Enables/disables the mode, in which the position number of the current record will remain constant regardless of BOM changes. If the mode is enabled for the current cell, the command's icon is highlighted.

OldSpecAddRowBefore

Insert Row Before

OldSpecAddRowAfter

Insert Row After

Add empty row above or  below the current record.

OldSpecShowHide

Show Hidden Records

Enables/disables the mode, in which all deleted records are displayed. The fields of these records will be highlighted in color set in the system options dialog (Options > Bill of Materials > Colors > Hidden Records Background). If the mode is enabled, the command's icon is highlighted.

Hidden records that were added manually, are kept until the BOM is updated.

OldSpecRestoreHide

Restore Hidden Records

Allows to restore deleted records.

OldSpecExport

<BS>

Export

Allows to export the BOM data or the BOM itself to an Excel file (*.xls/*.xlsx).
