Dimension Parameters

Dimension parameters can be set in the parameters window at any stage of creating the dimension. Parameters window of the LinkDimension20x20 Dimension command is split into following tabs:

Value

Additional Parameters (this tab is available only for 3D dimensions after selecting source objects)

Strings

Tolerance

Style

Arrows

Units

Alternative Dimension

Options

Descriptions of parameters in each tab can be found by following the links above.

Moreover, the same parameters (except options), as well as Level, Layer, Priority and Color can be specified in dimension's parameters dialog. Options define the way of the LinkDimension20x20 Dimension command's operation, rather than parameters of a particular dimension, so they cannot be accessed via the dimension's parameters dialog.

In order to keep a uniform style of drawing, some parameters might be defined in the document parameters dialog at once for all dimensions located on a particular page. Values inherited from document parameters can be easily detected in parameters of a particular dimension, as they're either kept in square brackets or replaced by the "From document" text. If necessary such values can be set individually for a particular dimension independently of document parameters.

In addition to some of the parameters displayed in the Dimension command's parameters window and dimension's parameters dialog, the document parameters dialog contains specific parameters, which cannot be set elsewhere.

The document parameters dialog is split into tabs. Most of the document parameters related to dimensions are located in the Dimensions and Alternative Dimensions tabs. Font and Symbols located in the eponymous tabs are common for all drawing detailing elements. Thickness of dimension lines and size of arrows can be set in the Lines tab.

If necessary, some parameters can be inherited from another dimension.
